Abstract
One of the forms of violence against children, situated among mental, physical or sexual abuse, is neglect. It is not only the lack of proper medical and physical care or not satisfying child’s basic physiological needs but it is also the lack of education and culture, deprivation of the need for love and need to belong, harmful to one’s health behaviours of pregnant women along with not breastfeeding. It is well known that safe and loving relationship with caregiver, repetitiveness and predictability of caring activities along with touch are significant for proper development of child and its social functioning. This article presents the case study of a girl with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) who was left in the hospital and due to lack of stable relationship and inclusivity, she was developmentally delayed to a great extent (in spite of FAS). This case study depicts how love of foster parents, who met this girl and decided to adopt her as well as their perseverant work and building the bond, helped in growth of the girl and allowed for her further development.
