The subject of the article is the characteristic of the wedding customs in the light of Roman and Jewish law and their comparison with the specification of similarities and differences between them. Both legal regulations arose over many centuries, therefore their regulations underwent many changes, however this article presents the most important and relatively permanent elements of Roman and Jewish wedding ceremonies. The article proves that despite the antiquity of Roman and Jewish law, several customs survived in modern times, sometimes unchanged, which proves the great influence of these regulations and their timelessness.
