Abstrakt
The aim of the article is to present an analysis of opinions of women from Warsaw on the role and significance of motherhood in woman’s life. The study was conducted by quantitative method, using original questionnaire with closed, single and multiple choice questions. The results obtained were elaborated using descriptive statistics in the contingency tables and Pearson's chi-square statistic test. The views expressed by the women from Warsaw indicate that most of the respondents perceive motherhood as a process (42.0%), as opposed to being interpreted as static - 3.0% of women believes that woman simply starts being a mother. The vast majority of respondents (72.0%) draws the knowledge about childcare from literature, 65.0% use parenting classes and 62.0% use the Internet. Research clearly accentuate the dynamic model of entering into the role of mother, the need to learn and gain experience. At the same time an indication by the women from Warsaw their own mother as a model of motherhood (55.0%) emphasizes that experience of motherhood is a matter of "relationship" and not just "intellect". Studies clearly point to the advantage of positive factors of being a mother over negative.
