Abstract
This study examines the relations in the family of origin and their connection with marital satisfaction among parents of preschool children. This marital satisfaction depends on many factors, one of these can be family predispositions. As Janicka and Liberska (2014, p. 13) noticed, “experience gained from the family of origin has an indelible impact on the whole life.” The quality of the relations in the family is connected with four dimensions (communication, cohesion, autonomy and identity), which can be affected by intergenerational transmission. Intergenerational transmission strengthens the family and, as Radochoński (1986, p.13) defines it, creates its identity “from its distant but always own past to the secret future.” In this context, the younger generation may use the resources from the family of origin. On the basis of this knowledge it can be assumed that the relations in the family of origin will be associated with the marital satisfaction among parents of preschool children. This assumption is under consideration and it is a starting point to further research.
