Abstract

Postpartum depression is one of the most common postpartum disorders. It affects up to 7-30% of women in the world, and up to 80% of women suffer from mood disorders in the postnatal period. The risk factors for postpartum depression are largely caused by stress, depression during pregnancy and lack of social support. Whereas resilience and associated high self-esteem can be a protective factor against postpartum depression. The relationship between breastfeeding and postpartum depression is significant. Shorter breastfeeding may be a predictor of postpartum depression, while postpartum depression may shorten breastfeeding time.
