Abstract

The modern doctrine concerning the management of subjects with disabilities involves their full social inclusion. This doctrine implies full participation in the community of people with disabilities, including those who have the central nervous system damaged. Many of the anomalies resulting in damage to the brain can be detected in prenatal life. The parents need to be prepared to support the child with disabilities and taught to accept the situation by pointing to the value of the life of every human being. According to the paradigm of respecting life from the moment of conception to natural death, the pregnant woman and her family should receive psychological, pedagogical and instrumental support to provide their potentially disabled child with the optimal opportunities for development and ability to participate in social life as fully as possible.
