Abstract
The article is an attempt to describe women and men referring to their psychological gender. Authors try to define expectations about the image of “a real man and a real woman”. Study group and Tools: In the study, 371 people from the Podkarpacie Voivodship aged between 16 to 24 were examined by Kuczyńska’s Psychological Gender Inventory and "Real woman - Real man" Questionnaire prepared by A. Wołpiuk - Ochociński and M. Marmoli. Results and conclusions: Expectations regarding masculinity and femininity revealed significant associations with the biological sex and the psychological gender. Femininity and masculinity in the opinion of young people is treated in the traditional way, associated with the widely prevailing stereotypes. Basic requirements for role-men and -women have not changed dramatically. We are witnessing the phenomenon of "expanded role": while the traditional expectations of sex roles r the same, there have appeared additional expectations of both a woman and a man.
