About the Journal

Purpose and scope of the journal

Quarterly Journal Fides et Ratio (ISSN 2082-7067) is an interdisciplinary academic journal that brings together research from a wide range of fields, including the social sciences, family studies, medical and health sciences, the humanities, theology, and the arts. We particularly value work that takes an interdisciplinary perspective and connects insights across disciplines.

Journal ranking (2025): 70 points on the official list of academic journals published by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Our mission is to foster dialogue and collaboration among scholars from different universities and research traditions, keeping in mind the Journals profile. We publish both empirical research and theoretical contributions, welcoming authors from Poland and abroad. Articles appear in English, French, and Italian, alongside their Polish translations.

To support both Polish and international researchers, Quarterly Journal Fides et Ratio aims to provide an accessible platform for publication in an English-language academic journal with international reach. Publication fees are kept at the minimum level necessary to cover technical costs, and the work of the journal relies heavily on the dedication of its volunteer editors and reviewers.

Each issue in annual publishing cycle is scoped around one of four consecutive thematic issues:

  1. Love, Marriage, Family: An Interdisciplinary Approach
  2. Dialogue and Communication: An Interdisciplinary Approach
  3. Life and Fertility: An Interdisciplinary Approach
  4. Exploring Science, Religion, Society, Culture and Art in the Human Journey: An Interdisciplinary Approach

The journal is published by the Fides et Ratio Foundation, established by the Fides et Ratio Academic Society. The Society brings together academics from more than a dozen Polish universities, as well as artists and social activists.

Since its launch in 2010, the Journal has been published without interruption, offering Open Access to contributions from both Polish and international scholars. From 2010 to 2019, publication was completely free of charge, made possible thanks to the volunteer work of the editorial team and reviewers. Issues 1–36 from that period remain available in the online archive.

In 2019, with the support of a three-year grant from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the journal was able to:

  • launch its own server and dedicated website,
  • introduce an online publishing system based on OJS,
  • and register articles with DOI numbers.

After the grant period ended, modest publication fees were introduced to sustain the high publishing standards that readers and authors expect today. The journal, however, continues to be shaped by the voluntary commitment of its editorial team and peer reviewers.
