Abstract

Postcard from home – an attempt to react to pandemic and lockdown reality. An humble idea that became inter-environmental initiative that goes beyond the Academy and that proved to be a platform for a dialogue via art. By the concept, our project was to refer to Communication art, a social function of art and democratic sharing of an idea. The Postcard from home is a project that could open the community of academics from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw to the external world. On the other hand it could also absorb artists who work outside academies on everyday basis. Artists taking part in the project were asked to create small format artworks referring to greeting cards and traditional postcards sent in a digital form to compose a virtual, accessible, public exhibition on the website of the Academy and Salon Akademii Gallery.  In the project, we achieved the assumed criterion of the scale and impetus keeping the high artistic level at the same time. The results of the project are planned to be presented in the form of the large exhibition at the Salon Akademii Gallery in November 2020.
