Abstract
The paper presents the preliminary results from the first study ever carried out on the building of the Chapel of San Romano; the elegant seventeenth-century chapel is located in Settignano, what was already during the Renaissance a pleasant village in the surroundings of Florence, frequented by famous artists such as the Cennini family, owner of an existing tabernacle then restored and embellished to house the remains of St. Roman martyr. The study has realized the first architectural survey of the building ever carried out by identifying the dimensional and geometric characteristics, as well as the rigorous orthogonal representation of the Renaissance frescoes and the interpretation of the metric-proportional matrices adopted in the conception of the chapel.Key words: architectural survey, Settignano, Bartolomeo Cennini, cappella di San Romano
