Abstrakt

Współczesne społeczeństwo na co dzień zmaga się z problemem otyłości, która jest jednym z największych zagrożeń XXI wieku. Czynniki rozwoju otyłości są powszechnie znane, aczkolwiek jednym z mniej poznanych, ale równie ważnym czynnikiem jest ekspozycja na substancje chemiczne, nazywane obesogenami. Związki te znajdują się między innymi: w kosmetykach, żywności oraz tworzywach sztucznych, a narażenie może nastąpić poprzez skórę, drogi oddechowe oraz przewód pokarmowy. Wyniki wielu badań podkreślają konieczność zwiększenia kontroli i regulacji substancji chemicznych zawartych w produktach konsumenckich. Zrozumienie roli obesogenów, jako czynnika rozwoju otyłości, może pomóc w sformułowaniu lepszych i bardziej skutecznych strategii profilaktyki oraz leczenia, co ma kluczowe znaczenie dla zdrowia publicznego.
